Ben McDevitt

Ben McDevitt AM APM has served as a senior executive in multiple law enforcement and regulatory agencies for over 35 years. His most recent role was as CEO of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority, an appointment he took up in May 2014 when the agency was in the midst of the ‘Blackest Day in sport’ investigations. Other high profile appointments he has held include CEO of the CrimTrac Agency, Queensland State Manager of the Australian Crime Commission, Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner in charge of Counter Terrorism and Commander of Operations for ACT Policing. Ben’s law enforcement career started when he left the Australian Army in 1983 after serving for three years as a paratrooper in Delta Company, 6 Battalion.

Ben holds a Masters level degree in Public Policy and Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Executive Leadership. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his work on the AFP response to the Bali bombings of 2002. He also received an Australian Police Medal in 2004 for his service to policing and was a finalist in the 2005 Australian (ACT) of the Year awards.

Ben was awarded the Cross of Solomon Islands for his distinguished service as Commander of the Police Contingent in the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI). His service in the Solomon Islands featured in an episode of the ABC Australian Story titled ‘Friends in Deed’.
